I think people would be more likely to continue sharing stuff if they didn't have to extract music to the hard drive to be able to listen to it.

Does it? I'm referring to playing audio files inside of zip or rar archives by extracting them to RAM only while they are being played.

Good point, I had forgotten about foobar. The default media player included in NimbleX was also capable of this. I forget what the media player was called tho, it's also obviously a Linux media player.
